Your code ships to a kitchen
at 5 AM tomorrow.

iBites is a food company the way Amazon is a bookshop. We make cold-pressed juice, protein bowls, salads and breakfast — and to move it we built eleven apps, a geospatial delivery engine, a realtime kitchen bus and a multi-city franchise platform. Most of India’s food startups rent that stack. We wrote it. Come break it.

The part nobody expects

“It’s a juice company, how hard can the tech be?”

This is the sentence we hear most, usually right before someone looks at the architecture and goes quiet. Food delivery in India is a geospatial routing problem wearing an apron: perishable stock, a 90-minute window, riders moving in real time, and prices that legitimately differ by city. Most startups in this space rent that stack from someone else. We wrote all of it.

Geospatial delivery engine

H3 hex indexing and HERE road-distance routing decide which kitchen cooks your order, which rider carries it, and what the distance surcharge is — per order, in milliseconds.

H3 · HERE · live GPS

Realtime kitchen bus

NATS fans out order events to kitchen screens and rider apps over SSE. When a stall sells the last bottle, three other apps know before the customer puts their phone away.

NATS → SSE

Multi-region franchise platform

Every city gets its own menu, its own prices and its own serviceable area, with a City-VP who can only ever see their own region. Multi-tenancy is the shape of the codebase, not a flag.

Subscriptions that actually run

Recurring plans materialise into real orders every morning on a cron, survive pauses, skips, address changes and price revisions, and reconcile against the wallet and Razorpay.

55 automated jobs

Money, end to end

Razorpay, an internal wallet, stamp-card loyalty, referral cashback, partner commissions with TDS, RazorpayX payouts and GST invoicing. Every rupee reconciles or someone's morning is ruined.

wallet + RazorpayX + GST

More than one business

A pathology-lab booking vertical, QR-driven physical stalls with consignment stock, a B2B corporate portal and a partner/reseller API. One backend serves all of them.

84 route modules

🇮🇳 Nobody in India has wired a single kitchen-to-doorstep stack this far — own kitchens, own riders, own stalls, own B2B portal, own partner API and a pathology vertical, all on one backend. We are not claiming it is perfect. We are claiming you will not get to touch anything this wide anywhere else at this stage, and that some of it is held together by decisions you will get to argue with.

Why it’s worth your time

Every careers page on earth says “fast-paced, dynamic, like a family”. Here is the version with specifics in it — all of which you are welcome to interrogate us about in the interview.

No staging purgatory

Your branch does not go to a backlog to think about its life. It goes to production, where a kitchen reads it at 5 AM and a rider acts on it by 7. Terrifying. Excellent for learning.

You'll see the whole loop

Interns here have stood in the kitchen at 5 AM, ridden along on a delivery, found the routing bug themselves, and shipped the fix that afternoon. Try closing that loop at a company with a product manager.

Nobody to escalate to

You work directly with the founder. There is no committee, no sprint ritual, no alignment meeting about the pre-alignment meeting. You get a real yes or a real why-not, same day.

A PPO that means something

Because it is not automatic. Our strongest interns get full-time offers; the others get an honest conversation weeks before the end, not a form letter on the last day.

The product isn't vapourware

Cold-pressed juice, protein bowls, salads and breakfast — made the same morning, no concentrate, no preservatives. You can eat your own output, which is more than most software people can say.

Cities are opening

The platform is multi-region from the ground up. When a new city comes online, the people who understood the system first are the ones who get handed it. That is a very short list right now.

About internships & the PPO

These are internship positions. Strong performers may be offered a pre-placement offer (PPO) to join us full-time — it is performance-based and entirely optional on both sides, never automatic or guaranteed.

What we do promise

A paid stipend, real ownership of real work, a certificate, and an honest recommendation letter written by the founder.

How a PPO happens

You take ownership of something that matters and see it through. We tell you where you stand well before the internship ends — never on the last day.

What we won't pretend

A PPO is not automatic, not promised to everyone, and not a condition of the internship. Some internships end as internships — with a certificate, a reference and a real skill — and that is a perfectly good outcome.

How hiring works here

The worst part of applying anywhere is the silence afterwards. So here is the entire process, up front, including the bit where we promise you an actual answer.

  1. 1You applyOne short form. No login, no account, no 40-field ATS that asks you to re-type the resume you just uploaded. About two minutes.
  2. 2A human reads itNo keyword-matching bot deciding your future because you wrote 'React.js' instead of 'ReactJS'. If it's a fit you'll hear from us in about a week.
  3. 3A small real taskSomething close to the actual work. Not inverting a binary tree, not a timed quiz on syntax you'd google anyway. We tell you how long it should take and we mean it.
  4. 4A conversationYou talk to the founder. Bring hard questions — you are deciding about us too, and a candidate who asks nothing is the actual red flag.
  5. 5An answer, either wayIncluding the no. With a reason. We have all been ghosted after a final round and it is a genuinely rotten thing to do to someone.

Questions people actually ask

Is this just a juice company? How interesting can the engineering be?

iBites runs eleven applications on one in-house backend: a customer web app and a Flutter app, two rider apps, a kitchen app, an admin panel, a B2B corporate portal, a partner API, a pathology-lab vertical and more. The hard problems are geospatial (H3 hex indexing and HERE road-distance routing to decide which kitchen cooks an order and which rider carries it), realtime (NATS fanning out order events to kitchen screens over SSE), and multi-tenancy (every city has its own menu, prices and serviceable area, enforced at the query level). Perishable stock and a 90-minute delivery window mean correctness is not optional. Most food startups in India rent this stack; iBites wrote it.

What would I actually work on as an engineering intern?

Real tickets on the live platform, usually within the first week. Past intern work has included rider navigation and live-GPS routing, the kitchen production-plan screen, subscription materialisation (recurring plans that turn into real orders every morning on a cron), distance-based delivery pricing, and the regional catalog that gives each city its own menu and prices. There is no separate intern sandbox project — the thing you build goes to a kitchen at 5 AM and a customer sees it that morning.

Is the PPO guaranteed after the internship?

No — and we would rather say that plainly than imply otherwise. A pre-placement offer is performance-based: strong interns may be offered a full-time role, it is entirely optional on both sides, and it is never automatic. We tell you where you stand well before your internship ends so you can plan.

Are the internships paid?

Yes. Every internship listed carries a monthly stipend, and the range is stated on the role itself. We do not post unpaid internships.

Can I intern remotely?

Most engineering, AI and content internships can be done remotely or hybrid — the role says which. Sales and on-ground operations roles need you in the city, because the work is physically in office parks, societies and kitchens.

Do you hire freshers with no work experience?

For internships, yes — that is the point of them. We care far more that you have built something real (a side project, a hackathon entry, a reel you shot and edited) than about your CGPA or your college's name.

I'm still in college. Can I work around my timetable?

Yes. Internship hours are flexible around classes and exams — we ask for roughly four days a week and we plan around your exam weeks if you tell us early.

Will I get a certificate and a recommendation letter?

Yes to the certificate for every completed internship. A letter of recommendation is written personally by the founder, and it is honest — which is what makes it worth having.

What if there's no role open that fits me?

Apply to the closest one anyway and say in your own words what you would rather do. There is no headcount committee here, so roles get shaped around good people far more often than they would at a large company — that is one of the genuine advantages of a team this size.

How long until I hear back?

About a week if it is a fit. If you have not heard from us in two weeks, it means we have gone with someone else for now — do reapply when we post something closer to you.

Didn’t see your role?

Apply to the closest one and tell us, in your own words, what you’d actually rather be doing. We are small enough that a genuinely good application has invented a role more than once — which is not a line, it is just what happens when there is no headcount committee.
